WTW & University of Cambridge Launch New Airport Risk Index

A new Airport Risk Index has been introduced by WTW and the Centre for Risk Studies at the University of Cambridge, enabling airports all over the world to implement risk profiling techniques to future-proof their resilience planning.

At the annual WTW Airport Risk Community meeting in Lisbon, the new Index was introduced to executives from international airports.

It compares 110 of the busiest airports in the world based on passenger volume to 19 identified risks, integrating historical and predictive information to assess the likelihood of operational disruption and its potential effects on an airport’s profitability.

According to John Rooley, CEO of Global Aerospace, “We’re pushing transformation across the aviation ecosystem in line with our WTW data-led strategy. With the help of this Index, the industry’s methods for measuring and managing risk will be challenged.

Dr Trevor Maynard, Director of Systemic Risk Research at Cambridge added, “The Centre for Risk Studies at Cambridge Judge Business School and WTW collaborated to create this index which will empower leaders in the aviation world, through data-driven insights, to inform risk resilience.”
