Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwayemisi Olorunshola has been appointed as the new Board Chairman of Wema Bank Plc.

The announcement explained that the appointment was made because the existing chairman of the bank’s board, Mr. Babatunde Kasali, has reached the mandatory retirement age set forth in the bank’s articles of association and will be stepping down.
Professional Profile of Oluwayemisi Olorunshola
Until her new position in 2022, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwayemisi Olorunshola served as the Chairman of the Board’s Nomination and Governance Committee.
Before joining the Bank, Olorunshola worked for Unilever Nigeria Plc for fifteen (15) years, gaining experience in supply chain, business re-engineering, and process management, according to a statement signed by Johnson Lebile Company Secretary/General Counsel.
She’s been running businesses and sitting on boards for more than a decade.
Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile Ife awarded her a Bachelor of Science in Education and Economics; the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom awarded her a Master of Business Administration; and Walden University in the United States awarded her a Doctor of Business Administration.

She has extensive experience in all facets of the supply chain, including business and production planning, procurement, distribution, import and export, and logistics services, and has received extensive training in all of these areas from institutions like the Four Acres Training Facility, Unilever UK, FITC, Leighton Academy, and H Pierson.
She has a strong passion for learning. Many researchers have cited her work that appeared in the Journal of Functional Education (JFEAcademia), Proquest, and Academia.edu on the topic of small company sustainability initiatives.
Olorunshola is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, a Member of the Institute of Directors, and a Chartered Member of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, in addition to being a Director and Fellow of the International Institute for African Scholars.
She is a strong proponent of giving back to the communities in which she lives and works, and as such, she participates as a volunteer in a wide range of civic endeavors.
