Swiss Re has suggested that Pia Tischhauser and Vanessa Lau be elected as new members, changing the composition of the board.

The changes are made in advance of the company’s next AGM in April. Additionally, it stated that current board members Susan L. Wagner and Renato Fassbind would not run for re-election.

The CFO of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is Lau. Vanessa Lau had previously served as the global rolled goods group’s chief financial officer in New York.

Before joining Alcoa, she worked as an associate principal at McKinsey & Company in Hong Kong. She started her career in various positions at PwC UK.

Swiss Re Suggests Shakeup Of Board

Tischhauser, meanwhile, served on the executive committee of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) between 2016 and 2021. She was also the global leader of BCG’s insurance practice from 2015 to 2021.

Prior to that, Tischhauser led the global commercial insurance and reinsurance business within BCG’s insurance practice and was responsible for the development and buildout of its insurance business across Switzerland and the UK.

Sergio P. Ermott, chairman of the board of directors at Swiss Re, said in a statement: “We are delighted to attract two outstanding professionals for election to our board of directors. Vanessa Lau and Pia Tischhauser bring strong expertise in financial services and proven strategic skills.”

He added: “On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to thank Sue and Renato for their great dedication and commitment to Swiss Re over many years. They both contributed strongly to our company’s strategic development. Their guidance and governance expertise will be thoroughly missed. We wish them all the best for the future.”
