At the close of last week’s trading on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited, investors had lost N571bn.
The market value of stocks listed on the NGX decreased by 2.09 percent last week to close at 49,664.07 and N26.787 trillion, respectively.
The NGX Insurance, NGX Consumer Goods, and NGX Growth Indices saw gains of 6.0%, 3.0%, and 1.56%, respectively, while the NGX ASeM index ended flat. All other indices finished worse.

33 stocks had price increases throughout the week, down from 41 stocks the week before, according to the NGX.
While 97 stocks remained unchanged higher than 93 stocks recorded in the previous week, 26 stocks had their prices decline, an increase from 22 stocks the week before.

According to the NGX weekly market report, investors traded 1.511 billion shares worth N13.547 billion in 20,074 deals last week, up from a total of 705.636 million shares worth N12.850 billion that changed hands in 22,124 deals the week before.

With 680.202 million shares worth N4.672 billion exchanged in 9,230 deals, the Financial Services Industry led the activity chart in terms of volume, contributing 45.02 and 34.48 percent, respectively, to the total volume and value of equity turnover.
Services Industry came in second with 499.178 million shares trading for N3.407 billion in 866 transactions. With 2,083 transactions totaling 113.804 million shares worth N2.246 billion, the ICT industry came in third. Trading volume in the top three stocks, Capital Hotel Plc, FBN Holdings Plc, and Jaiz Bank Plc, totaled 763.836 million shares worth N5.130 billion in 1,025 transactions, accounting for 50.55 percent and 37.87 percent, respectively, of the total equity turnover volume and value.
