INVEST IN IRAs, SECURE YOUR FUTURE

Edward Zuckerberg, Zuckerberg’s father, maintained a dentistry practice in the family’s home. Karen, his mother, worked as a psychiatrist before the couple’s four children, Mark, Randi, Donna, and Arielle, were born.

Zuckerberg was fascinated by computers from an early age, and at the age of 12, he used Atari BASIC to construct “Zucknet,” a messaging application. His father utilized the application in his dentist practice so that the receptionist wouldn’t have to yell across the room to tell him of a new patient. Zucknet was also used by the family to communicate within the house.

He also built computer games purely for fun with his friends. “I had a lot of artist buddies,” he explained. “They’d come over and draw anything, and I’d turn it into a game.”

They had already acquired numerous investors and shifted their activity to an actual office by mid-2004. They did, however, consistently resist major firms’ attempts to buy their budding enterprise. Facebook’s objective, as Zuckerberg later emphasized, is to open the globe; it was never about the money.

In July 2010, Zuckerberg revealed that the app’s active user base had surpassed 500 million people. He was placed first on Vanity Fair’s Top 100 “most influential persons of the Information Age” list that year. They passed the one billion user mark in October 2012. Wirehog, a peer-to-peer file sharing service, was founded by Zuckerberg, Andrew McCollum, Adam D’Angelo, and Sean Parker in August 2004. However, it received far less traction than its major competitor, i2hub, and was finally shut down.

MARK ZUCKERBERG – Biography, Age, Family, Net-worth & Businesses

Zuckerberg’s most significant investment is in Meta Platforms. He holds around 400 million Meta shares, which account for the majority of his $80 billion net worth.

Instagram, WhatsApp, and Oculus were three of Zuckerberg’s best investments made through Meta. Intercom, which came into his portfolio via Iconiq Capital, was another smart pick. Iconiq is a private venture financing firm with clients including Mark Zuckerberg and other billionaires.

1.Instagram

In 2012, Meta paid $1 billion for Instagram. The photo-sharing software had 50 million users and no money at the time. Since then, Instagram has grown to over one billion users worldwide. Ad income from the app is expected to be worth $20 billion a year.

Bloomberg estimated Instagram’s standalone value at $100 billion in 2018. In six years, the value increased from $1 billion to $100 billion, a compound annual growth rate of 115 percent.

2. Using WhatsApp
Meta purchased WhatsApp for an eye-popping $19 billion two years after purchasing Instagram. WhatsApp’s momentum drove the transaction, even if the company wasn’t profitable. The app had 450 million users and was growing at a rate of one million each day.

The increase in users has continuing. WhatsApp will have 2 billion users worldwide by 2020. WhatsApp’s original revenue generating, a $1 monthly fee, has since been dropped by Meta. Instead, Meta is directing WhatsApp business customers to premium services like Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns. The revenue impact of this technique is not broken out by Meta.

3. Oculus Virtual Reality
In 2014, Meta paid $2 billion acquire VR headset company Oculus VR. It’s difficult to disagree that the purchase has paid off eight years later. According to research firm IDC, Oculus is the market leader in VR headsets, with a 75 percent market share. In addition, Oculus sales have increased from a projected 3.5 million units in 2020 to a range of 5.3 million to 6.8 million devices in 2021.

Although the company’s growth is encouraging, Oculus has yet to realize its full potential. Meta Quest, which was recently renamed, is poised to be the launching pad for Meta’s metaverse dominance.

Meta Quest 2, the most recent headset release, offers instant entry to the metaverse for a starting price of $400. If this increases user interest and participation in the metaverse, Meta’s larger strategy begins to take shape. That might make Zuckerberg’s acquisition of Oculus the best decision he’s ever made.

4. Intercom Intercom was founded in Dublin, Ireland, in 2011. With the 2014 Series C round, which brought Intercom’s total funding to $66 million, Zuckerberg got involved via Iconiq. The messaging software startup raised another $125 million at a $1.3 billion valuation four years later.

Intercom CEO Karen Peacock revealed in 2021 that the company was planning for an IPO, so keep an eye on this one. Peacock didn’t disclose when the product will be available, but she did remark that Intercom’s income had increased dramatically since 2018. The company’s value has now surpassed the $1.3 billion threshold from its Series D financing.
