The 6th Richest on the FORBES List Larry Page is an online entrepreneur and computer scientist who teamed up with grad schoolmate Sergey Brin to develop the search engine Google in 1998. Larry Page’s parents were both computer gurus when he was born in 1973 in Michigan. He went to Stanford University to study computer engineering, where he met Sergey Brin and became friends with him.

A Michigan native, Lawrence Page was born in East Lansing on March 26, 1973. In computer science and artificial intelligence, Carl Page, his father, was a pioneer; in computer programming, his mother was a pioneer. In 1995, while working on a research project at Stanford, he met fellow researcher Sergey Brin. ‘BackRub’ was the name of the search engine they invented in 1996. For a long time, it was hosted on Stanford servers.

It was determined that Page and Brin would incorporate their initiative as a business. Andy Bechtolsheim, a co-founder of Sun Microsystems, made a significant contribution to the company’s funding by writing a $100,000 check to a corporation that had not yet been created.

The initiative, today known as “Google,” was formally formed as a company in September 1998. In 2001, Eric Schmidt was named CEO, and in his place were Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were named presidents of products and technology.
