As part of its Sports & Entertainment practice, insurance broker Howden has named Mike Godfrey as Executive Director and Head of its Equine section.

Godfrey will start working for Howden once his contractual responsibilities have been fulfilled.

He will be headquartered in London in this position and will answer to Duncan Fraser, the Global Practice Leader for Sport & Entertainment.

Godfrey will concentrate on expanding Howden’s bloodstock clientele as Executive Director and Head of the Equine sector, with an emphasis on the UK, US, and Australasia in particular.

Overall, Godfrey brings almost forty years of experience within the bloodstock insurance market to the role. He started his career in 1984 with J.H. Minet. He subsequently joined the leading bloodstock team at Howard Global before the firm was purchased by Integro in 2014, latterly becoming Tysers.

Furthermore, Godfrey’s appointment follows the recent hire of industry veteran David Long as Chair of the Equine division.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Howden acquired independent French marine broker Seasecure Group.
