Ben Stilwell Becomes AXIS Re’s new CRO
In his new role as Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Ben Stilwell will be responsible for overseeing the overall risk management strategy for AXIS Re SE, the reinsurance underwriting division of AXIS Capital.
Stilwell, who will be based in London, has 17 years of experience in the insurance sector.

He most recently held the role of Group Head of Enterprise Risk Management at AXIS, a role he started in 2022 when he joined the company.
Prior to AXIS, Stilwell served for 16 years at Beazley.
He joined the speciality re/insurer in 2006 as an Assistant Risk Manager, he was then appointed Risk Manager for the London office before taking over the same role in Connecticut, US.

After being promoted to Senior Risk Management, he relocated back to London and stayed there for nearly seven years.
AXIS has also recently announced the appointment of a new Chief Data & Analytics Officer, Rebecca O’Neill, who will also be based in London.
In this role, she will be responsible for driving global data strategy and governance across AXIS.
